@damodamodamo2 Our system requirements specify Windows 7 Professional, Ultimate, and Enterprise editions only. While you might be able to get by with Home Premium, you may not experience optimum performance levels.

will the new solidworks run on windows 7 home premium?

@SEBUVER Could you please send a private message with your email address so we can contact you directly?

    Hi SolidWorks,

I’ve emailed you a couple of times, but never seemed to get a responce. I’m a 14 year old from England who wants to purchase the Student edition of SolidWorks. The problem is is that I have no evidence of being a ‘degree seeking student’. Could you please help? Many thanks.

    Samsonl206,

Our current student edition is 2010/2011, and 2011/2012 is about to launch soon. We don’t have any free software available, but you can purchase a discounted student edition from the SolidWorks website. You may also try asking your school for a copy. They sometimes have discs they can hand out.

Are there any free versions of solidworks to practice on for students? My school uses the sw2008 and i wanted to practice at home also.

just to confirm (I am a complete novice at this we just started this today) when you define a shape, line, etc. you simply state the length and dimensions of it?

Can you make a tutorial for F1 in Schools car?

  9. solidworks says:

@rnusiclover Most car companies use CATIA (our sister brand) or NX software for car design, both of which are more sophisticated than SolidWorks. Learning SolidWorks now will give you a good foundation in 3D design, which you can carry with you into college. There are thousands of teens in middle and high schools around the world learning SolidWorks every day, so don’t worry about it being too hard to pick up. You’ll do fine.

I am a teen who is wanting to pursue a career in Automotive Engineering, and I was wondering if I should start SolidWorks now or should I start on a more simpler program. Thanks

    @rsxjatt me too!!

I have no complaints about the speed of this tutorial. I’d rather pause the video and play around with the controls rather than wait for the instructor to go through every detail.

this appears to be video version of the tutorial that is with SW program. very helpful to me even if it’s a little too fast. Thanks!

how can i make a circular cut

  21. triden55 says:

    slow down!! lol

  22. follytowers says:

Please, please, slow down. You talk far too fast. The 4 mins video could easily have been stretched to 8 mins in length with the talking slowed down. THEN it would be far more useful to a beginner.

  23. tertpo says:

lots. Lots of Thanks. Not for beginner 3d drawers but for beginner solidworkers.

She is talking WAY too fast, and sounds like a machine. Not a good tutorial.
